The Wanted's Debut US Album Out In April

Posted on 14:55 by Unknown
With "Glad You Came" currently sitting at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on US iTunes, the announcement comes that the UK boy band's debut US album will arrive on April 24 via Mercury/Island Def Jam.

The group is also set to head back to the States in a couple weeks for a March 20 performance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno, April 2 gig on the mtvU Spring Break Las Vegas stage, performance on the Today Show on April 24 (day of the album's release) and then a cougar-rattling appearance on The View on April 25.

That's nice and all, but when is Wanted member Max George going to do lap-dancing on The D'luv Show?

Kylie Minogue Does Syndey Mardi Gras

Posted on 06:20 by Unknown
Kylie Minogue performed at Sydney Mardi Gras yesterday, and while the Herald Sun has a straight-forward classy writeup on the event, the classiest review you'll read is the one over at Pop Trash Addicts.

Kylie herself tweeted the above pics of her various costumes she wore during the gig, which had her singing everything from "All The Lovers" and "I Believe In You" to "Better The Devil You Know " and "In Your Eyes".

Here's some shoddy video from the event (things kick off at about the 1:31 mark:

And photographer Eva Rinaldi took a bunch of photos of Kylie, which you can view here.

Saint Etienne "Tonight": There's A Richard X Extended Mix

Posted on 07:05 by Unknown
Above is the official single cover for Saint Etienne's "Tonight", the lead offering from the upcoming Words And Music By Saint Etienne .

The great news: there is a Richard X extended mix! And SE fans will recall that Richard X expertly reinterpreted the band's debut LP Foxbase Alpha three years ago as Foxbase Beta. He also produced their 2009 London Conversations single "Method Of Modern Love" and remixed "This Is Tomorrow" for the same collection.

The :/ news: the Richard X extended mix will only be available on the limited edition (there are only 1,000 copies) 12" vinyl version of the single, which goes on sale here this coming Tuesday.

UPDATE: According to Popservations, the Richard X extended mix will be on both the 12" and the download.

Some other bits of info on the single, via a Saint Etienne newsletter email:

The shiny new single Tonight is ready to hit the shops on 12", 7" and digital download on 12th March.

The artwork follows in the grand tradition of the Specials' Too Much Too Young EP. In fact, this picture was taken at a Specials gig too. See if you can spot who sang what (hope you're enjoying this game - we are).

On the twelve inch, the first excellent mix comes courtesy of our ursine mates 2 Bears - a real beauty this, you're going to love it - and the second is from Manchester's own remix machine Club Clique. One of these days, we'll have to head up to the north west for one of their legendary do's. If they'll have us. Richard X has done an 'old school' (ie 1980s) extended mix of the song you already know and love.

And, as an added bonus, the 12" features an unreleased track from the soundtrack of our Finisterre movie.

"Manhattan" is exclusive to the seven inch. We gave ourselves the task of taking one of Scott Walker's latterday 'difficult' songs and tried to imagine how it might have sounded with a turn of the seventies Walkersound.

The EP and the 7" are limited to 1,000 copies of each, will be available here from Tuesday (6th March) at 5.00pm (GMT).

And remember kids, once they are gone, they are gone!

Alphabeat's New Single "Vacation" Will Be Available In The US

Posted on 12:23 by Unknown
Sometimes you wake up, and there's just really awesome news lying in wait. For instance, Alphabeat announced their new single "Vacation" off their upcoming their third album today. And while the Danish popsters are making us wait till Monday to find out the exact details, they did tease with this:
"...the EXTREMELY GOOD NEWS is that it will be available for download on iTunes in our beloved DENMARK, all over beautiful EUROPE and in the amazing US!!!"
In a perfect world (i.e. one run by me), "Vacation" and the rest of the upcoming people will pick up where previous album The Spell (or, depending on where in the world you live, The Beat Is...) left off, with the Black Box-esque early-'90s house sound the band employed perfectly.

Alas, I fear I may be the only Alphabeat fan in the world who would want that.

Nicki Minaj's 'Roman Reloaded' Album Cover: Well, Look Who Scissored Ke$ha!

Posted on 05:52 by Unknown
Above is Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album cover. This trash is out April 3 — and I say trash because what the hell was anyone thinking with "Roman Holiday" or "Stupid Hoe" (or, for that matter, "Starships")?

Anyway, the one good thing about this album so far: Nicki seems to have taken inspiration from Ke$ha with regards to the cover art. Particularly from her "Take It Off" video.

Or maybe Nicki just had her face up Ke$ha in a pool of glitter?

US Chart Roundup: The Wanted Have A Top 10 Hit

Posted on 05:40 by Unknown
Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" rebounds to #1 on the Hot 100 this week, thankfully knocking Katy Perry's Z-grade "Part Of Me" down to #4. Some chyldryn were frenzied last week thinking that this meant the blue-wigged warbler finally landed a sixth chart-topping single off Teenage Dream. Alas, no — Whipped Cream Tits merely saw her first single from Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection chart at the top. At least that's how I'm choosing to see it.

Meanwhile, my jam "Glad You Came" by The Wanted flies up from #23 to #5 following its inclusion on Glee last week. The show's cast version of the song, which, I must say, I was a little disappointed in, debuts at #90.

So how long has it been since a boy band had a Top 10 hit here? I feel like NSYNC's 2002 single "Girlfriend" the last one, no?

Elsewhere, Sia makes her first appearance in the Top 40 via her feature on Flo Rida's "Wild Ones" (#35), Calvin Harris climbs 31 positions to #46 with "Feel So Close," One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" drops to #50 after debuting at #28 last week and Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'" falls to #58 in its fourth week on the Hot 100.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" - Kelly Clarkson *3 weeks*
2. "Set Fire To The Rain" - Adele
3. "We Are Young" - fun. feat. Janelle Monae
4. "Part Of Me" - Katy Perry
5. "Glad you Came" - The Wanted
6. "We Found Love" - Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris
7. "Good Feeling" - Flo Rida
8. "Turn Me On" - David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj
9. "Young, Wild & Free" - Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa
10. "Starships" - Nicki Minaj
