I Interviewed Goldfrapp Again

Yesterday Alison Goldfrapp became the only artist to-date that I've interviewed three times. This one was all about upcoming album Tales Of Us (out in the US on September 10). I'll post the link once the interview is up, sometime in August.

Last week the gorgeous, Lisa Gunning-directed short film for "Drew," the first Tales Of Us single, premiered, and it absolutely blew me away. It looks like some lost Merchant Ivory film. And it has a pair of hot, naked dudes in it. What's not to love?

Goldfrapp Announce 'Tales Of Us' Album

Goldfrapp blew me away with their Head First album in 2010 (eff you all who disagree that it was a rad record!), and today the duo have finally announced the follow-up, Tales Of Us. The new LP will be released on September 9, and the tracklist is as follows (the first thing that becomes apparent is that it's all names...aka the "us" in question):

The short trailer above previews some of the tracks, and it definitely sounds like a much more pensive, less electro-pop affair than Head First. A series of European tour dates have also been listed on the site for the fall.

My Goldfrapp Interview

I love Goldfrapp, and I think Alison Goldfrapp is one of the most intelligent songstresses I've ever had the privilege of interviewing. I talked to her in 2010 for Idolator, just before Head First came out, and once again a few weeks ago, as a tie-in with the release of The Singles. You can read the latter, which was posted today, here on Idolator.

I used the majority of the quotes, and there were just a tiny bit of leftover bits from our recent interview, which I'm posting just below:


Do you think the day will ever come when Will will join you on stage for a tour? 
AG: No. He does do occasional gigs with us. When we’ve done acoustic things he’s been there. But, no — he’s never really been into that side of things. I sometimes think that’s probably why we’re still working together. [Laughs]

AG: [Laughs] I’d better start taking more, because I’ve completely run out of pictures! And I forget which ones I’ve tweeted and which ones I haven’t. Yes, I will
